Charlie Styles wins scholarship to Eton

Where most Y11 students in Tamworth are applying to local colleges and schools for the next stage in their education, Charlie thought he would aim a little higher and made enquiries about joining Eton (that’s Eton, possibly the most famous school in the country) The process began with an application and supporting letter which was of a sufficiently good quality to earn Charlie a 3 day interview in February. There he held discussions with tutors, performed a Shakespearian monologue and took written aptitude tests.

A week later, Charlie received a letter to inform him that he had been successful and would receive the scholarship he had applied for! This is an unbelievable achievement for Charlie; his family and the school. Charlie said "This is amazing - it hasn't quite sunk in yet and I don't think it will until I actually go there in September. I would like to thank my family for their support over many years I would also like to thank many teachers at school for encouraging me to do this, supporting me through the process and for believing in me." 

Headteacher Mr Tonks commented "This achievement should provide an inspiration to Wilnecote students for years to come that, with the correct approach and significant personal investment and endeavour, anything is possible."
